Hello Daily Play Action! Anthony Marro here back to share my Men’s NCAABB picks with you today and every day, as tournament time approaches. This season I have floated around 59% ATS on over 250 picks, and feel I know these teams well enough to provide consistent winners. This article will have my picks but you can also follow my Twitter for all bets against the spread. My write-ups and any O/U action will be posted exclusively here on DPA!

  • Daily Play Action ATS Record: 15-7-0
  • Daily Play Action O/U Record: 9-2-0
  • Season ATS Record: 167-115-7

Virginia -11 vs North Carolina State

  • Virginia went 22-8 against the spread this season with a ridiculous average margin of victory at 17.6 points. That number is a bit inflated from early in the year but even in just ACC games the average margin of victory is still a whopping 13.8 points
  • NC State is coming off of a win against Clemson that ended in a very controversial charge call. They were down sixteen points at the half but a team like Virginia would never allow them close to a comeback
  • In their only meeting this season NC State pushed the game to overtime and only lost by one point. You may think they can keep it close again, but Virginia will not allow another sweat like they faced back in that match-up
  • The man defense of NC State is fearless in pressuring opponents but history has been an indication that Tony Bennett will not be defeated by his own bread and butter. It comes as no surprise but once again Virginia has the best defense in the country

George Mason -8 vs George Washington

  • In their last game this season George Mason crushed George Washington in a 81-65 victory. The lead at half was the same sixteen that the game ended at, but in the postseason they will continue to run up the score until the buzzer sounds
  • I like to believe that college kids don’t get tired but the fact is George Washington is coming off an overtime victory against a very weak Massachusetts team and I expect fatigue. In their only other back-to-back this season they lost by 35 to South Carolina
  • George Mason is not a great team but they are miles ahead of George Washington. They actually finished the season with a Quadrant I win and nine more victories than George Washington
  • The losses that George Mason suffered were more than quality. Those defeats include teams like Baylor, Kansas State, Vermont, Cincinnati and Virginia Commonwealth. They should win this game by double digits and have a chance to make some real noise in the A-10 tourney

Virginia Tech vs Florida State, Over 134.5

  • Ty Outlaw hit three shots from long range in the first four minutes and was a huge offensive weapon in Virginia Tech’s first game. He went down with an ankle injury but it appears he will play this afternoon which is a major boost to the over
  • In conference play Virginia Tech went 13-5 O/U in favor of the over this season, with most in the 140 and even 150 point range. Even when their defense plays lights out they have a scoring attack that can cover
  • Florida Tech is a very good team which has driven this line to right around even money. It is going to be close for the full 40 minutes and I do not expect either team to slow up on offense
  • These teams met a week ago but it took until overtime for them to break the over. However, I think Virginia Tech will be speeding up the tempo in this one. Buzz Williams wants as many looks as his team can get as they are now 56.6% from beyond the arc in two games since

Mississippi -3 vs Alabama

  • The only team that has covered more games than Ole Miss this season is Drake. Kermit Davis coached his team to an impressive 23-8 record against the spread including covers in seven of their past nine games
  • Meanwhile Alabama has failed to cover in seven of their past eight games are 12-18-1 against the spread overall this season
  • In the fourteen losses for Alabama this season only one came by fewer than three points. Conversely, for Ole Miss only one of their victories was by fewer than three points. We can really ignore this spread
  • Ole Miss has the advantage on both sides of the floor. They shoot better, assist far more and are near automatic from the foul line while Alabama shoots 66.8% at the stripe. The defense of Ole Miss plays a much tighter man look than that of Alabama

I play every game I post so you should not be afraid to tail, but never go too heavy on any one game. These few weeks of hoops are a marathon not a sprint, so manage your bankroll appropriately. That being said scared money is lost money! Let’s win today Playmakers!
