NCAA BASKETBALL – 11.29.2019 – Best Bets for Friday’s College Hoops (Free)

Hello Daily Play Action! Anthony Marro here, back to share my NCAA Men’s Basketball picks for the entire college season. Last year I was happy to supply over 300 picks against the spread and finish the season cashing at a rate of just about 59%. As March Madness approached and I was brought on to write for DPA, readers were treated to a 45-27-2 record of sides and totals over the final month of the season. This season, betting write-ups will posted exclusively on DPA almost every day but be sure to follow my Twitter too so you won’t miss a pick on days with abbreviated slates.

  • Current Season ATS Record: 31-35-1
  • Current Season Totals Record: 22-21-0
  • Previous Season ATS Record: 180-127-9

Oregon -1.5 vs North Carolina

  • Oregon nearly tasted victory against Gonzaga last night but fell just short. They are looking to redeem themselves here and are making a legitimate case for a Top 10 AP Ranking at the start of next week. An early morning win against the Tarheels would do it
  • Payton Pritchard is a monster and playing at least 35 minutes in this one his point total could get extremely high. I think he eats today as North Carolina just got torn up by the guard play of Michigan. I like this spread especially because in my eyes Oregon is by far a more complete team
  • It is time to sell on Roy Williams and Cole Anthony. I am not saying this team is dead, but a murderer’s row awaits them in Oregon, Ohio State and Virginia. I think they could finish this stretch 3-0 but realistically this team is too young to succeed, and that will be proven here today

Rutgers -8.5 vs Massachusetts

  • Defensively Rutgers should smother the Minutemen in this game. They covered the past two games they have played and seem to be fantastic at home this season. I think this is an easy double-digit victory even against a very gritty Massachusetts squad
  • Samba Diallo is excellent but is more valuable as a defensive player and this can cause problems for Matt McCall if his team is stuck in a shootout. This game will not be considered a high scoring one but in a lot of possessions I think it gets out of hand if Massachusetts cannot score
  • This is a game that will reveal a lot about both teams. Rutgers has dominated lesser opponents and should cover to prove they are legit today. On the other hand, Massachusetts has yet to find a win against a Tier B or better team and won’t today

Michigan +4 vs Gonzaga

  • Gonzaga faced a lot of adversity last night against Oregon but came away with a single digit victory. I think it is too good of a number to pass up on Michigan who demolished the Tarheels of UNC yesterday. Today they can step up again and win this tournament
  • Michigan has one of the best defenses in the country and while Gonzaga is very talented on offense, I do not think they are going to look their usual selves. Michigan has a distinct size advantage and should be able to limit the Bulldogs possessions here
  • There is now a question of whether Gonzaga can win without huge offensive performances. Filip Petrusev had a huge game on Thanksgiving and prior to that they needed 28 points from Corey Kispert. I think the defense of the Wolverines shut them down today

Florida State -1 vs Tennessee

  • This is a game I am extremely excited for as we see two new staples of college basketball who established themselves last year and look great to start the 2019 campaign. I think Florida State with the better defense should get the job done today
  • Last season Tennessee finished third in the country in offensive efficiency. This season they are losing points to the NBA but and now have a tougher matchup as they lack the rebounding, size and experience from last year. Their offense is just not the same
  • I think Florida State plays fast enough offensively to give Tennessee fits and with Leonard Hamilton at the helm these players will trust their coach and hope he can lead them to a marquee victory. It should be easy for them to cover given their discipline and talent advantage

Virginia Commonwealth vs Purdue, Under 129

  • Purdue games have gone under four out of five games to start the season and I think they are able to completely shut down the Rams today. It will be an uphill battle for VCU to score more than 55 against one of the best defensive teams in the country and I do not see it happening
  • Purdue is averaging 74 points a game and really, we are still in good shape if they hit that again tonight. They really should not be able to top that thanks to the pressure of VCU’s defense and the slower tempo both teams compete at. I think the under is safe at this total
  • VCU is still a defense first team. They are ranked inside the Top 20 in defensive efficiency according to KenPom and should be able to contain what has been a surprisingly explosive offense for the Boilermakers. Matt Painter should get the win here in a tight, low scoring contest

Let’s win today Playmakers! I am confident in every pick that I provide and play them myself. College basketball is unpredictable and that’s why we love it, so always bet smart!
