NCAA BASKETBALL – 3.5.2020 – Best Bets for Thursday’s College Hoops (Free)

47

Hello Daily Play Action! Anthony Marro here happy to share my NCAA Men’s Basketball picks for the college hoops season. Last year I was able to supply over 300 picks against the spread and finish the season cashing at a rate of just about 59%. As March Madness approached and I was brought on to write for DPA, readers were treated to a 45-27-2 record of sides and totals over the final month of the season. This season, betting write-ups will posted exclusively on DPA almost every day but be sure to follow my Twitter too so you won’t miss a pick on days with abbreviated slates. If you to try out a website to bet on my picks, I highly recommend using Bovada for their user-friendly format and awesome deposit bonuses!

  • Current Season Record: 247-238-7
  • Previous Season Record: 180-127-9

UNC Asheville vs Gardner Webb, Over 148

  • These squads are a combined 32-21 to the over this season and I expect a lot of points here today to kick off the day two of the Big South tourney. This contest is projecting to be very close and I think the winner here will need to score at least 75 points to survive and advance
  • Lavar Batts has been doing it all for UNC Asheville and if they want to win this game, he is going to have to put on quite the show. I think his offensive ceiling is as high as anyone’s in this conference, and he will match the output of Christian Turner this afternoon
  • Gardner Webb has scored at least 70 points in six straight games and is hitting their offensive stride at the right time. They got to enjoy a bye yesterday, but this experienced team should be ready to come out firing on all cylinders here. Take the high

UNLV -1.5 vs Boise State

  • The Runnin’ Rebels get to play an entire conference tournament at home, so it is going to be to their advantage to at least win. It has become an annual routine for UNLV to lose to San Diego State in this tournament, but they thrive against just about all others
  • Elijah Mitrou-Long has stepped in at guard and been huge for UNLV but his status is up in the air for today. However, they also expect to return a huge piece in Donnie Tillman who should offset that injury. If both somehow suit up today this will be an extremely easy win
  • Boise State got beat by ten points in this series last meeting which was on this same court. Thomas and Mack Center is one of the best places to play in the country and you have to anticipate history repeating itself here. We should see very healthy attendance

Stanford +1.5 at Oregon State

  • I keep betting Stanford and they keep covering. Take this play at your own risk but I am looking for five straight with the Cardinal who have been red hot on the back of solid defensive performances. They allow just over 61 points per game to their opponents
  • Oregon State would of never beat Stanford in their first meeting if it were not for the random appearance of Jarod Lucas. That game was his second highest minute total for the year as he averages closer to 10 per game. That was a fluke and tonight’s game should prove it
  • Tres Tinkle was also a huge factor in the Beaver’s first win, but now he is in for a battle with the improved Oscar Da Silva. The junior center has not only been on fire when it comes to shooting but he is also locked in on defense. I like the under, and I really love Stanford here

Wichita State vs Memphis, Under 137.5

  • Memphis plays at a tempo that could really mess us up, but I am confident this game stays low. The Tigers have been slumping as they managed just 58 points per game in their past three outings. That number excludes the fourteen they scored in overtime Saturday
  • The Shockers have conversely been on the upswing, shutting down opponents and winning big games. They have not allowed over 70 points in close to a month. While this is a game that will come down to the wire it will likely do so with points coming at a premium
  • The last reason I adore this pick is because the line is way too high. There is no reason to expect a total this high even if they cruise past 130. I anticipate Wichita State and their Top 10 defensive efficiency will step up and steal this win on the road, 65-60

Washington vs Arizona State, Over 144

  • Arizona State plays extremely up tempo and should have no problem scoring enough points for us this evening. I expect Washington to tighten up a bit and keep this game close but with the current line I think we are still going to be pretty safe with this pick
  • Both teams enter this game on a 7-2 over run which will likely carry into this final week of college hoops. In their first meeting they were able to combine for 170 points and while it likely stays under that tonight, I think it will comfortably surpass the posted total
  • The once feared Washington defense of yesteryear with Matisse Thybulle and company is no longer. This Top 30 defense has fallen out of relevance in the past month or so, seemingly allowing at least 65 points every game. I think Arizona State gets the best of them here

Northern Arizona vs Portland State, Over 155

  • We close the night with a pretty high total but one that I still expect us to hit. These teams each like to rain down threes and score both fast and often. Portland State will likely emerge victorious in this one with at least 85 points. The game won’t be very close
  • The past seven home games for Portland State have all gone over. They were not winners in all of those but still had amazing offensive performances in the games they lost. On the season they are averaging over 84 points per game when home at Viking Pavilion
  • Northern Arizona is extremely poor on defense and do not have nearly enough playmakers to keep opposing teams in check. They rotate a mere three players at the 4 and 5 positions. This allows for teams to penetrate inside the paint a lot more in the second half

Let’s win today Playmakers! I am confident in every pick that I provide and play them myself. College basketball is unpredictable and that’s why we love it, so always bet smart!
