NCAA BASKETBALL – 3.6.2020 – Best Bets for Friday’s College Hoops (Free)

31

Hello Daily Play Action! Anthony Marro here happy to share my NCAA Men’s Basketball picks for the college hoops season. Last year I was able to supply over 300 picks against the spread and finish the season cashing at a rate of just about 59%. As March Madness approached and I was brought on to write for DPA, readers were treated to a 45-27-2 record of sides and totals over the final month of the season. This season, betting write-ups will posted exclusively on DPA almost every day but be sure to follow my Twitter too so you won’t miss a pick on days with abbreviated slates. If you to try out a website to bet on my picks, I highly recommend using Bovada for their user-friendly format and awesome deposit bonuses!

  • Current Season Record: 249-242-7
  • Previous Season Record: 180-127-9

Northern Iowa -8.5 vs Drake

  • I anticipate Northern Iowa waltzing through the Missouri Valley tournament and that starts today against Drake. Just six days ago the Panthers traveled to Des Moines and won by 27 points against this same squad. The game this afternoon should not be much different
  • Drake enters this game covering just five of their last twenty games. This team should be ready to see their season come to an end early this Friday. I think it is a blowout here in St. Louis by the second half. You should be very comfortable laying this many points
  • Usually I am going to rely on the team with more experienced guard play but AJ Green is an absolute stud for Northern Iowa. He is the best player in the entire conference and pairing him with Austin Phyfe is a near impossible duo to stop. Either could go for 20 points here

Samford +3 vs Virginia Military Institute

  • This line makes absolutely no sense to me. Samford already beat VMI twice this season and now get to play them one final time on a neutral court. Those two games were decided by a mere nine points but with the current spread you have to like the Bulldogs here
  • VMI is one of the most three happy teams in the country and can catch fire on any given night but are prone to long offensive slumps as well. I much prefer Samford who is capable of scoring inside and making their free throws. You can guarantee at least 70 from them
  • We can play the history a bit for this matchup as well. Samford has won the last ten meetings between these teams and covered in the last eight. Scott Padgett has had Dan Earl’s number and there are plenty of upperclassmen for Samford who have been here before

Yale vs Dartmouth, Under 131.5

  • I am not in love with this bet, but we are getting a lot of cushion with this under. I think the line is a bit over adjusted from the first meeting which still totaled a mere 132. Yale is going to show off their elite defense here who allow fewer than 65 points per game to opponents
  • Dartmouth has been the surprise of the Ivy as of late winning five of their last six. Over that stretch their defense has also looked phenomenal allowing fewer than 62 points per game. If they can stay locked in for forty minutes, they could even pull off an upset here
  • The last four home games for Dartmouth have gone under as it seems visiting squads are struggling to score consistently against them. I am sure that Paul Atkinson and company will get their share, but I do not think they put up much more than 60 this evening

Ball State vs Northern Illinois, Under 124.5

  • Both squads are 9-20 to the under this season which explains why we get such a low total here. I still adore this play though due to the slow tempo this contest will be played at. Teams ratchet up on defense at the end of the year and we will witness that tonight
  • The last five meetings between these teams stayed under dating back to March of 2017. They each allow fewer than 64 points per game and both will stay well under that mark in this very close contest. The winner of this game will win the Mid-American western division
  • Eugene German is the best player on the floor and in the conference today, but this guard is pretty much the only reliable scorer for Northern Illinois. He is responsible for over a third of this team’s points and I doubt he will be able to carry this total on his own

Missouri State vs Indiana State, Over 136.5

  • The total has gone over in ten of Missouri State’s last eleven games and I expect today we will see that trend continue. Indiana State has been an under monster at home but here on the neutral court I think we are getting a lot of value going the opposite direction
  • The earlier meetings between these teams split regarding the total. I dislike the slow tempo that the Sycamores run but they have a lot more trouble controlling the game outside of their home state. The winner in this game will need at least 70 points tonight
  • Gaige Prim gives you as much offense as any center in the country which makes me love this high even more. He is just 6’8 and makes his mark on the court almost exclusively under the opponent’s basket. I am expecting at least a healthy 15 from him in this contest

Let’s win today Playmakers! I am confident in every pick that I provide and play them myself. College basketball is unpredictable and that’s why we love it, so always bet smart!
