Straight Dealin | 6.27.18 | DraftKings Main Slate

Good afternoon playmakers and welcome to the Wednesday edition of Straight Dealin covering the top pitching players on DraftKings tonight, if you haven’t checked out todays DraftKings edition of the Daily Diamond be sure to do so and without further ado, lets jump into some pitching picks.

P | Rick Porcello | BOS | $9200

Opp: Los Angeles Angels

Rick Porcello looks to continue his success against LAA.

The Red Sox are at Fenway tonight with Rick Porcello on the bump as a -145 favourite up against the Los Angeles Angels. Porcello has really good history against the Angels scoring 20+ DKFP in his last 4 meetings with them. Although this Angels team has the best player in baseball in their lineup right now they also have a middle/bottom of the order that tends to strike out quite a bit. With Porcello’s recent form and overall consistency paired with the fact he is under 9.5K I think he profiles as a relatively safe cash play tonight with a limited ceiling. The limited ceiling is due to the fact the top of the Angels order doesn’t strike out a whole lot but with his numbers against them historically and limited other options on the table I like him for cash games.

P | Alex Wood | LAD | $8200

Opp: Chicago Cubs

Alex Wood has given up 1 HR in his last 3 starts

Desperate times call for desperate measures and there is no measure more desperate than playing an LA Dodgers pitcher in cash games. After getting absolutely shelled at Coors Field Wood has put together three decent starts in a row and is seeing a $900 price decrease after a 23 DKFP outing at Citi Field. Wood is currently rocking a decent 11.1% SwStr and has been limiting hard contact and fly balls for the most part although he has struggled with the home run ball at home this season. Overall Wood isn’t a huge strikeout guy so that gives him limited upside in this matchup to go for 30+ DKFP but he’ll go out there and likely get the job done as long as he doesnt get pulled early. Rostering Dodgers pitchers is always a concern and this is one of the few times it should be considered given the dire circumstances.

P | Zack Wheeler | NYM | $6300

Opp: Pittsburgh Pirates

Zack Wheeler provides great salary relief tonight, if he plays.

Looks like some weather issues at Citi Field tonight so check your favourite weather source before deciding whether or not to roster Zack Wheeler tonight. Its a good spot for Wheeler up against the Pirates. If you listened to the DPA Playmaker podcast last night you would have heard me talk about Steven Matz being a good play against this Pirates team who is struggling offensively at the moment. His SwStr% is about average at 10.1% and his HC% and FB% are both under 40%. His splits indicate he is worse at home. However, this is purely a price play that I am willing to take a chance on against an offense that is really struggling at the moment. If the Mets game looks good to play Wheeler profiles as a great tournament option with 20+ point upside.

Other GPP pitchers to consider: Robbie Ray, Kyle Gibson, Clayton Richard
