On tonights 10 game slate we have plenty of value options to choose from however there is one stud that stands out from the rest, lets jump in…

Justin Verlander | HOU | $13,300

Opp: Toronto Blue Jays

Justin Verlander looks to stay hot at home.

Verlander gets the prime matchup of the slate tonight against the struggling Blue Jays who are implied to score just 2.8 runs. Verland has very good numbers at home with a strikeout rate of almost 38% and has done an outstanding job of limiting hard contact in a park that is already fairly pitcher friendly. JV is priced over $2000 higher than the next highest viable pitcher, Mike Clevinger, who is coming off two amazing outings but they were both against the same team so he gets a much tougher matchup now at a price boost.

Mike Foltynewicz is priced at almost $12,000 is a bit unreasonable for me regardless of what his ceiling is. This leaves Verlander alone atop the pitching mountain tonight and with some of the value options on the table it will likely be easy to fit him into lineups despite his high price.

Jameson Taillon | PIT | $7900

Opp: New York Mets

Jameson Taillon brings a safe floor to Citi Field

The Pirates are travelling up to Flushing to face the Mets at Citi Field tonight. The Mets are implied to score just 3.8 runs tonight, one of the lower marks on the slate. Taillon has pitched better outside of PNC Park this season with a road OPP wOBA of just .284 and just a 24% hard contact rate. He hasn’t struck out as many batters on the road which limits his already low ceiling but he profiles as a safe play for cash.

On FanDuel tonight he is priced at just $7800, for those who don’t often play FanDuel it’s very rare for a pitcher to be priced the same on both sites, typically DraftKings has them priced way more expensive because of the higher salary cap. Taillon comes with a relatively safe floor after a shaky start to his season and should be considered for cash games, but not tournaments due to his limited upside.

Seth Lugo | NYM | $7100

Opp: Pittsburgh Pirates

Seth Lugo looks to shine in projected pitchers duel

Jameson Taillon is not the only pitcher from this game who interests me. This game coming in with the second lowest O/U on the slate and two very reasonably priced pitchers who could both be SP2 options I won’t be limiting my exposure to Taillon. Last time Lugo pitched at Citi Field he dropped 32 DKFP on the Yankees. The Pirates dont strike out a whole lot but Lugo has been striking out batters at a 26% clip at Citi Field this season.

He is also only allowing them to bat just .187 against him. Lugo has a 20% HC rate at home with a 49% GB rate really makes Lugo an appealing play for cash as well. After coming off two tough outings in very hitter friendly parks this profiles as a good spot for Lugo to bounce back tonight back at home.
