The Checkered Flag – FREE Picks – Xfinity 500 – NASCAR DFS

Hi everyone! Joe Kooinga back to give you a breakdown of this week’s battle at the notorious short track, Martinsville. This is the last race before the championship with spots into next week’s finale at Phoenix on the line. Let’s take a look at the drivers I think are in the best spot to build your lineups around for this week’s battle

Brad Keselowski | 1st |11,400 DK|13,000 FD|

I like Brad starting on the pole here. He has all but locked up a spot in the final four and I think he is going to push really hard to win this first stage and rack up the stage points, putting himself in position to make the final even if the rest of his day isn’t good. He’s done really well here in recent years, winning two races.

Martin Truex | 2nd |11,800 DK|13,500 FD|

Truex also has two wins here in recent years and this is easily his best short track. I think he’s the next top contender behind Brad to win stage one and I know he is really going to put everything into winning this race. You can’t go wrong either way with these two, I think they are the clear two best plays.

Ryan Blaney | 10th |10,700 DK|11,600 FD|

I like this spot for Blaney. He’s a wildcard though, the stats back up the play. Blaney has finished Top 10 here 5 out of his last 7 starts and has the 5th best driver rating here since 2017. Behind Brad, Truex, Kyle Busch and Logano.

 Joey Logano | 7th |9,900 DK|12,500 FD|

Joey has really good numbers here as of late. But I’m somewhat worried about him already being clinched into the championship race. A bad race here doesn’t effect him. Now, it does play a role in pit selection for next week, so I he very well could go all out. But overall, Phoenix, next week’s race, is what is on this team’s mind.

Place Differential

Jimmy Johnson | 27th |9,300 DK|9,700 FD|

He just starts too low not to have exposure. He should be a Top 15 car. This is one of two races left in this legend’s career.

Bubba Wallace | 32nd |7,200 DK|7,000 FD|

Bubba has two wins here in truck series. He’s openly said it’s one of his favorite tracks. I would be surprised if he’s not battling for a Top 20 finish.

Chris Buescher | 28th |6,700 DK|6,600 FD|

Good price and good history here. He’s finished 13th and 12th here the last two trips. I think he’s my favorite value play and possibly goes overlooked a bit. These first three place differential plays I prefer a lot more than the next several I will mention.

Clint Bowyer | 16th |8,300 DK|10,000 FD|

Clint dominated a race here in 2018. I think he’s priced up on FanDuel because of that, so I don’t like him as much over there, but he’s a solid cash game or GPP play on DraftKings for the price tag.

Matt DiBenedetto | 12th |7,000 DK|9,000 FD|

I think he’s slightly too cheap on DraftKings. If he can just stay put and finish near Top 10 he would pay off. I think he might be too expensive on FanDuel but still viable.

Erik Jones | 19th |9,000 DK|8,800 FD|

Another option, but not one of my favorite plays. He starts in a spot where maybe he can get close to a Top 10 finish. But he has not been very good here. This could be a trap play and because of that this is GPP only, and maybe just a dart throw at best.

(Also consider)

Aric Almirola | 20th |8,100 DK|8,700 FD|

Ryan Newman | 21st |6,500 DK|7,600 FD|

Remember, NASCAR is a CRAZY DFS sport. Scores and your place in the money can change in a heartbeat. There are so many variables that really no one can predict. Cars can be finicky, and some will crash which can ruin your day. You need your full team to be on its game if you want to cash, and you may need a little luck. This is not a one man sport when you pick a player like other styles of DFS. There’s 30-50 guys behind the scenes who all have a hand in building the car or developing a game plan. Sometimes it only takes one mistake by one of those guys for a driver to have a bad race. That narrative does not apply to other forms of DFS, so be cautious when building your lines, but most of all, have fun!
