After last week wreckers or checkers race in Daytona, the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series will head to Kentucky Speedway. Erik Jones was able to survive the chaos last week and earn his first cup victory. Jones will look to keep the momentum rolling as they head to a track that he has found success at in the past. Maneuvering the problematic turn 3 will be a high priority for the drivers this week as it has proved in the past that it can be a magnet for trouble. Let’s dive right in and see what theDPA has in store for #Playmaker Fanduel lineups this week.
Blue Chip Studs
Kyle Larson | #42 | $11,500
Larson and the #42 Credit One Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet will roll off from the 18th starting position on Saturday. Larson was the runner up in last year’s race in Kentucky and will be on the hunt for the victory this year. He had the 6th fastest time in the 10 lap average category during Happy Hour and that time came late in his run. His car is set up for long green flag runs and should be strong if the race stays green.
Brad Keselowski | #2 | $10,700
Keselowski and the #2 Discount Tire Team Penske Ford will start from the 4th position when the green flag drops on Saturday night. Keselowski had the 11th fastest car in practice, and should see plenty of opportunities to gain valuable points while leading the pack. He had the 4th fastest 10 lap average speed in Happy Hour and ran that speed deep in his run. That should tell us if the race stays green for long periods, and we believe that the #2 will be running up front.
Keslowski will start from 4th place at Kentucky.
Martin Truex Jr. | #78 | $12,500
Truex Jr. and the #78 Auto-Owners Insurance Furniture Row Racing Toyota will start from the poll when the green flag drops on Saturday night. Truex won here last year and has a solid history in the short time that the cup series has stopped in Kentucky. Truex had the 7th fastest 10 lap average speed during Happy Hour, and has a car that we project to run up front and stick around when the checkers drop.
Ryan Blaney | #12 | $10,000
Blaney and the #12 Dex Imaging Team Penske Ford will start from the 7th position when the green flag drops on Saturday night. Blaney finished 10th at Kentucky last year and will be looking to improve upon that effort. He had the second fastest 10 lap average during Happy Hour and the 2nd fastest lap overall.
Kurt Busch | #41 | $10,100
Busch and the #41 Monster Energy/Haas Automation Stewart-Haas Racing Ford will roll off from the 9th starting position. Once again the Stewart-Haas team looks to have the horsepower under the hood to be the dominate team at Kentucky. Busch was 13th fastest in Happy Hour and had the 5th fastest 10 lap average speed in the first practice. His car seems to be setup for the long runs that we typically see in Kentucky.
theDPA are big fans of Kurt Busch on FanDuel today
Erik Jones | #20 | $9,700
Coming off his first Monster Energy Cup Series victory, Erik Jones and the #20 Freightliner Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will head to Kentucky with a lot of momentum. Jones finished 6th here last year and we see no reason why he can not run in the top 10 once again. He will be starting from the 2nd starting position and has a car that can stay up front all night, especially if the race stays green. Coming off his first win, Erik Jones is our DPA play of the week.
Daniel Suarez | #19 | $8,300
Suarez and the #19 Arris Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will roll off from the 11th starting position Saturday night. Suarez had the 5th fastest 10 lap average in Happy Hour and looks to have a very fast car on the shorter runs. The Joe Gibbs Team seems to have this track figured out, and should have solid finishes up and down the line.
Ryan Newman | #31 | $7,700
Newman and the #31 Caterpillar Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet are way too strong this week to be priced at $7,700. Newman qualified in the 10th position and had the 10th fastest 10 lap average speed. Look for Newman to have a solid day and bring the Caterpillar Chevrolet home in the top 10 this week as our DPA Dumpster Dive play of the week!

William Byron | #24 | $7,200
Byron and the #24 Liberty University Hendricks Motorsports Chevrolet will start from the 21st starting position. Byron has run very strong this year in his rookie campaign and will be looking to continue getting better. His Chevrolet had the 13th fastest 10 lap average and looks to be set up for long green flag runs.
