Playmakers, welcome to another Friday edition of The Daily Diamond. After an exciting All- Star Break its time to jump back into Mlb DFS action with another large slate packed full of great games. Today I will be highlighting my favorite plays for tonights DraftKings Main Slate. Lets jump right back in and make that money!
Trevor Bauer | Cleveland | $13,600 |
Todays slate doesn’t offer a lot of top priced pitching options, but I’m looking to target Trevor Bauer as my SP1 and find value today in my bats. With no Coors game and 14 games on the slate I feel pretty good about locking Bauer in as my top tier pitcher. I won’t be looking to target Noah Syndergaard or Stephen Strasburg both coming off of the DL. This year Bauer has limited hard contact and generally plays better vs. left handed batters. Projected lineups have 5 of the 9 batters being left handed. Over 20 starts Bauer has a K rate per 9 innings of 11.6, only 2.8 walks per 9 innings , and he is averaging a monster 26.32 DK points per game! This is Cash or GPP play for tonights Main Slate.
Wade LeBlanc | Seattle | $6,200 |
I’ll be looking to save a little salary at the SP 2 position, and what better way to do so than vs. The Chicago White Sox. We saw over the last week or the season (which has also been a trend this whole year) that mid-range pitching options can get the points we need for their salary against a White Sox team who strike out a ton. Wade LeBlanc is at home in a highly favored matchup and should provide the points and salary relief we seek. The White Sox have a 24% K rate vs Left Hand Pitchers, a .307 wOBA vs lefties, and only a .142 ISO. This play is in play for me for GPP purposes.
Players to consider: Jake Arrieta | PHI | $8,500, Danny Duffy | KC | $6,100.
Matt Adams | Washington | 1B/ OF | $4,000 |
Look for Matt Adams and the Nationals to get back on track tonight vs.The Atlanta Braves.
Matt Adams is batting 5th tonight and should have the opportunity to get some runs home while getting on base himself. Facing a volatile pitcher in Anibal Sanchez I expect Washington to break out of their recent slumping ways and start the second half of the season off well against the division rival Atlanta Braves. Over his last 150 games Adams has 28 HR, 82 RBI, .265 ISO, .373 wOBA, and .063 HR/ plate appearance.
Kyle Seager | Seattle | 3B | $3,300
Seager is batting clean up tonight vs. the Chicago White Sox and at a bargain price of only $3,300! The White Sox bullpen is one of the worst in the league vs. Lefties and are giving up 1.9 DK points per plate appearance. Seager has produced nicely in blowout games with an average of 8.45 DK points over 11 games, and 6.86 DK points over 78 blowout games. Seattle could easily exceed the 1.5 runs they are favored against the White Sox and James Shields tonight. Lock in Kyle Seager as a top value play batting clean up tonight!
Players to consider: Trea Turner | Washington | SS | $4,100, Nolan Arenado | Colorado | 3B | $5,200, Brandon Belt | SF | 1B | $4,100.
J.D. Martinez | Boston | $5,300 |
J.D Martinez is always one of my favorite spend up options on any given night!
It just doesn’t get much better than J.D. Martinez. J.D. is one of my favorite plays day in and day out. While leading the league in home runs, Martinez is also near the top in RBI, ISO and wOBA (142 RBI, .368 ISO, .444 wOBA over his last 150 games). I’ll be paying up for one of my favorite bats in the league tonight!
Lorenzo Cain | Milwaukee | $4,600 |
I feel like Cain is simply priced to cheap right now for one of the games most dangerous power hitters. He is a top 5% hitter vs. LHP with 2.85 points per plate appearance- in one of the most hitter friendly parks in the league tonight at Miller Park. Cain will be batting lead off and carries a .402 average, .265 ISO, .483 wOBA over his last 150 games.
Players to consider: Kike Hernandez | LAD | OF/SS | $3,400, Randal Grichuk | Toronto | $3,800, Mookie Betts | Boston | $6,000.
