The Daily Diamond- Core Picks- 07.27.18- DraftKings Main Slate

Happy Friday Playmakers! Tonight we have another enormous 15 game Main Slate on DraftKings, and if you have been following the DPA crew your second half of the season has started out with a Bang! We have been on a heater lately and I plan to keep it going today with some core picks! Lets jump right in, and as always lets make that money!

Chris Sale | Boston | $13,500
Opponent: Minnesota Twins

Chris Sale is the Gold Standard when it comes to ace pitching. Sale is averaging an unbelievable  38.6 DK points over his last 5 starts, and just demolishing every team in his way! $13,500 is a high price tag but I feel Sale is absolutely worth paying up for tonight at home vs the Twins. Sale will be pretty chalky tonight coming in around 25% owned but if he puts up 30-40 points (he should) I’ll be very happy paying up. Stats to consider over his last 20 starts: 2.23 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 37.3% K Rate, and 13.1 K/9 with only 2 walks per 9.

Chase Anderson | Milwaukee | $5,500
Opponent: San Fransisco Giants

For my second pitcher I will be looking to save some salary in a favorable match-up, and Chase Anderson meets these guidelines tonight. Tonight Chase will be playing away at AT&T park (4th most pitcher friendly park in the league). AT&T park is not just deep, but it also has a high outfield wall (8-25 feet), and winds which tend to push balls down or foul. All of this is good news for Chase Anderson. Anderson is facing a struggling Giants team who have a 24.5% K rate, and .135 ISO vs RHP. San Fran is also carrying only a .220 average vs. Chase over their last 40 at bats.

Also Consider: Zack Greinke | ARI | $10,700, Carlos Carrasco | CLE | $11,400, Marcus Stroman | TOR | $7,300.

Edwin Encarnacion | Cleveland | 1B | $4,300
Opponent: Mike Fiers (Detroit)

Encarnacion looks to stay hot tonight vs. Mike Fiers and The Detoit Tigers.

Fiers has been good as of late, but I think the Indians power bats will get to him tonight. The wind is blowing out to left at 8 MPH and Detroits bullpen is 30th against RHB. Encarnacion is averaging 15.8 DK points over his last 5 games and is a top 10% hitter vs. RHP. Splits to consider over the last 150 games: 32 HR, 89 RBI, .280 ISO, .375 wOBA and .070 HR per plate appearance. I will have at least one Cleveland Stack in GPP formats tonight with the Indians projecting low ownership.

Jonathan Schoop | Baltimore | 2B | $3,800
Opponent: Chris Archer (Tampa Bay)

Jonathan Schoop is on an absolute heater as of late. It may be a small sample size but his last 4 games were as follows: 19, 21, 21, and 19 DK points! Tonight Schoop and the Orioles take on Chris Archer and The Rays at home. The Orioles have a fairly low total and this is to be considered a contrarian GPP play only! I will look to separate from the field on such a large slate tonight with plays of this nature while riding a hot bat and an excellent BvP. Schoop owns Archer over his last 29 plate appearances with 3.45 points per plate appearance, with a .379/ .379/ .966 slash line. Make sure to check the weather forecast prior to lock tonight as there is some rain expected in Baltimore.

Players to Consider: Jose Abreu | CHW | 1B | $3,800, Asdrubal Cabrera | NYM | 2B | $4,100, Jose Ramirez | CLE | 3B | $5,600.

Rhys Hoskins | Philadelphia | $4,800
Opponent: Anthony DeSclafani (Cincinatti)

Hoskins had 6 Home Runs in his last 6 games with 2 coming last night!

If you played Rhys Hoskins last night (or at all this week) you were on your way to a good night. Rhys hit 2 HRs last night and has been on fire over his last 6 games (6 HR in that span & 20 DK PPG). Hoskins is a top 5% hitter vs. RHP with 2.28 points per plate appearance, top 95% in barreled balls & top 90% average exit velocity in the last 14 days. Over his last 150 games Hoskins has 30 HR, 86 RBI, 6 stolen bases, .297 ISO, .398 wOBA, and .065 HR/ plate appearance. Look for Rhys to stay hot tonight in Cincinnati!

Joc Pederson | Dodgers | $4,300
Opponent: Mike Foltynewicz (Atlanta)

Batting leadoff tonight, I like Joc Pederson at a reasonable $4,300. Pederson is a top 10% hitter and top 95% in average exit velocity vs RHP over the past 14 days. Over his last 4 games Joc is averaging 16.25 DK points per game and 11.17 PPG in 23 away games (9.04 over 46 away games). Stats to consider over his last 150 games: 22 HR, 57 RBI, 4 stolen bases, .288 ISO, .389 wOBA, and .054 HR/ plate appearance.

Players to Consider: J.D. Martinez | Boston | $5,600, Nick Williams | Philadelphia | $3,900, Khris (Crush) Davis | Oakland | $5,800.
