PHILADELPHIA FLYERS 1ST LINE: LINDBLOM | COUTURIER | GIROUX
DK: $18,100 | FD: $19,100
As of March 9th, 2019 the Ottawa Senators have been officially eliminated from 2019 NHL Playoff contention. With 13 games left to go in their regular season, the Sens have nothing to play for and have lost their last three games. The Flyers have the benefit of playing them tonight, and are still in contention for an Eastern Conference wild-card spot. For them to be competitive, they will need to get this win. This line has recently changed with Voracek’s two-game suspension and will hopefully be able to click right away vs the Sens.
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS 3RD LINE: DEBRINCAT | STROME | PERLINI
DK: $15,100 | FD: $16,200
The Chicago Blackhawks recent line shake-up has kept Cat and Strome together while adding Perlini on the third line. This line has scored two goals in their past two games and will also need this home win to stay in the playoff hunt with the Yotes only six points in front of them. The Coyotes currently sit one point out of a playoff spot, and will also be motivated to play hard. The O/U in this contest is currently sitting at 6.5, meaning that Vegas thinks there will be a lot of scoring in this contest between two hungry teams.
Honorable Mentions: ARI3, COL3, TOR1
Nino Niederreiter (DK: $4,900 | FD: $6,400)
Nino has turned out to be an excellent pickup for the Canes this season, posting six points in his last five games including two goals in his last outing vs the Preds. Niederreiter has also been posting 20 minutes a game and plays alongside Sebastian Aho and Justin Williams on Carolina’s PP1, making him a solid value with all factors considered.
Timo Meier (DK: $6,200 | FD: $5,300)
Meier has been insanely hot as of late, with five goals in his past four games. The Sharks 1st line winger has been mainly responsible for the Sharks recent four-game win streak. Timo sees around 17-18 minutes of ice-time on San Jose’s top line, and also sees time on San Jose’s second power-play unit. Meier was also good for seven shots last game, which further cements him as one of the top value plays on tonight’s slate.
Michael Grabner (DK: $4,100 | FD: $3,000)
Grabner’s two-goal game last Saturday was quite a surprising outcome. However, with the O/U for tonight’s contest against the Blackhawks set at 6.5, anything can happen. Grabner is set to see another increase in ice-time after being moved up to the third line last game. Grabner pairs well with his new linemates Vinnie Hinostroza and Brad Richardson.
Zach Hyman (DK: $4,700 | FD: $4,400)
Hyman has been very productive as of late on Toronto’s first line. He’s posted three points in his last three games and sees around 20 minutes of ice-time. Tonight he will be up against stiff competition against Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy, however with the O/U also set at 6.5, Vegas seems to think that this one will shootout.
Honorable Mentions: Bailey, Dvorak, Anisimov, B. Tkachuk, Dubois, Donato, Svechnikov
PP vs PK Matchup
TBL PP vs TOR PK
Tampa Bay has the best Power Play in the league, and Toronto has the 14th worst Penalty Kill in the league this season.
Honorable Mentions: SJS PP (5th) vs MIN PK (19th), OTT PP (13th) vs PHI PK (27th)
Erik Gustafsson (DK: $5,300 | FD: $5,900)
Gusty has solidified himself as one of Chicago’s top defenseman this season while averaging around 25 minutes of ice time and posting healthy amounts of shots and blocked shots with each opportunity that he’s gotten. Gusty will also be participating in the gongshow against the Arizona Coyotes tonight, while appearing on the top power-play unit with both Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat. Stacking those three players will be a priority for me on this slate.
Brent Burns (DK: $6,800 | FD: $7,300)
With Erik Karlsson set to miss due to a groin injury, Burns will yet again be relied on for majority of the Sharks defensive duties. Burns is the most expensive defenseman on both slates, and for good reason, as he has 73 points in 60 games this season and has averaged around 25 minutes of ice-time per game. It’s clear that Burns will appear on San Jose’s top power-play unit and will face-off against the Wild and Devan Dubnyk, who has lost two of his last three starts in net.
Morgan Rielly (DK: $6,500 | FD: $6,600)
Mo has really been producing as of late, with a point in each of his last four games as well as plenty of shots and blocked shots on top of that. Rielly also sees around 22-23 minutes of ice-time per game while also appearing on Toronto’s top power-play unit. He is rather pricey, but his consistency sets him apart from many other d-men at his price point. Probably a better cash game than a GPP play.
Honorable Mentions: Chychurn, Goligoski, Sanheim, Hainsey, Barrie, Keith
Carter Hart (DK: $7,500 | FD: $8,400) -260
Hart is set to make his return to the ice tonight against the aforementioned Ottawa Senators. Hart has had a stellar rookie season with a 13-8-1 record, a 2.79 GAA and a .917 SV%. On the other side of the ice, Craig Anderson who holds a 14-23-4 record, a 2.53 GAA and a .903 SV% will be starting for the Sens. The smart money is clearly on Hart and the Flyers tonight, as they have been pegged with having the best odds on the entire slate. He will be fairly high-owned, but he is in an excellent position to get the W again tonight.
Seymon Varlamov (DK: $7,700 | FD: $7,600) -110
The outcome of tonight’s Aves game is essentially a toss-up according to oddsmakers. However, Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov has been prone to perform when it’s least expected. The Aves need this game more than the Carolina Hurricanes who are already in a playoff spot. Also, this game will be played in the mile-high city where the Avalanche sport a winning record. Give me Varly and the Aves to come out on top at home tonight.
Honorable Mention: Lundqvist (+125)
