Taco Tuesday, Tongue Out Tuesday, or let’s just say Big Tuesday. It’s another large slate on a Tuesday evening. 11 games to be exact. Some of the top scoring teams in the league like the Leafs, Avalanche, and Lightning. There are some games that present mismatches that should be highlighted for your benefit.
First, we have the Avalanche vs the Senators. There could be a literal avalanche of goals in this game. The likely starter for the Senators tonight will be Craig Anderson. In his last 5 games Anderson is 1-3 with a 3.88 GAA and a .894 save pct. That would be positive for most teams but for the Avalanche it could equate to a rough night for the Senators. There are a few potential options to go with tonight. For cash contests there is the no-brainer choice of Line 1 Rantanen-MacKinnon-Landeskog. In GPP contests you should go with the explosive Line 2 Burakovsky-Kadri-Nichushkin. On top of that there are excellent choices on defense with deadly duo of Graves-Makar on Line 1 and the value in Sam Girard-Nikita Zadorov.
Next, there is the matchup of the Devils vs. the Panthers. On paper you would think the Panthers dynamic offense will blow the Devils off the ice. Yes, They probably will grab 2-3 goals. Upon a closer look, Mackenzie Blackwood has been really tough going 3-0-2 in his last 5 starts with a 1.95 GAA and a .946 save percentage. Most likely Samuel Montembault will be starting for the Panthers. In his last 5 starts he has given up 5 goals three times and enters tonight with a 3.40 GAA and a .889 save percentage. In this contest there are several solid GPP lines. NJD Line 2 Coleman-Zajac-Gusev has been a solid line all year. Of late Line 3 Wood-Zacha-Simmonds has been white-hot of late. Now let’s get to the recs!!
VGK Line 1 : Pacioretty | Stephenson | Stone | Schmidt
Draftkings: $21,000 (44% of Salary) | Fanduel: $26,500 (46% of Salary)
The combination of Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone has been the bread and butter of the Vegas offense this season. Max Pacioretty has 52 points in 57 games. Pacioretty’s momentum hasn’t slowed down recently with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games. Mark Stone has kept pace with his talented linemate in putting up 53 points in 57 games. Equally hot of late with 2 goals and 5 assists in his last 5 games.
Since Chandler Stephenson’s trade to the Golden Knights from the Capitals he has flourished. Previously relegated to the third or fourth line Stephenson is now running the top line with Stone and Pacioretty. Coming into tonight’s game Stephenson has 18 points in 28 games for the Golden Knights. In his last 5 games he has put up 2 goals and 3 assists. Backing up these forwards is defenseman Nate Schmidt. Schmidt is no slouch on offense himself. So far this season Schmidt has 26 points in 45 games and 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. If the Wild go with starter Devan Dubnyk you should play this line in a heartbeat. If they start Stalock it might present more of a challenge. Stay tuned…
Honorable Mention: COL Line 1 (Rantanen-MacKinnon-Landeskog-Makar); TBL Line 1 (Palat-Point-Kucherov-Hedman)
ARI Line 1 : Hall | Dvorak | Garland | Chychrun
Draftkings: $18,500 (38% of Salary) | Fanduel: $20,000 (40% of Salary)
Since Taylor Hall’s trade and the inception of this line their production has taken off. Taylor Hall is clearly the catalyst of this line as he has 20 points in 23 games since joining the Coyotes. In his last 5 games he has 1 goal and 3 assists. Christian Dvorak has flirted with breaking out this past few seasons and the addition of superstar Hall could be just the thing he needed to take the next step. With 34 points in 58 games Dvorak is already only 3 points shy of his career high of 37 points. In his last 5 games Dvorak has 2 goals and 1 assist.
The least widely known player of this line is Conor Garland. Garland has toiled in obscurity throughout his young career as he was only taken in the 5th round after a high-scoring junior career. This year Garland is showing off his ability as a scorer with 32 points through 57 games and 3 goals in his last 5 games. Young defenseman Jakob Chychrun has been a valuable asset this season since coming off the IR. Now that Ekman-Larsson is on the IR Chychrun has a fabulous opportunity running with the first line. Through 58 games Chychrun has 23 points and is red-hot of late with 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games. On Tuesday night the Coyotes play the Maple Leafs who will most likely be playing Jack Campbell in net. While Campbell is an improvement over the Leafs previous back-up of Michael Hutchinson there is still a drop-off from Frederik Andersen. Look for some goals from this line.
Honorable Mention: NJD Line 2 (Coleman-Zajac-Gusev-Severson); NYI Line 2 (Beauvillier-Nelson-Bailey-Boychuck)
C | WPG | Andrew Copp | Draftkings: $3,300 | Fanduel: $3,400
Andrew Copp, a 25-year old former U of Michigan stand-out, is having his best season of his career. With already 21 points through 49 games Copp is just 7 points shy of his career high of 28 points. Copp has been especially hot of late with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games. The Jets and Copp face a Rangers team that has been playing well of late backed by rookie netminder Igor Shesterkin. As we know, rookies are prone to lapses in performance so take a chance for a low price that tonight is that night.
Honorable Mention: Adam Henrique, ANA; JT Compher, COL; Filip Chytil, NYR; Luke Kunin, MIN; Derek Grant, ANA
W | MIN | Kevin Fiala | Draftkings: $4,500 | Fanduel: $5,000
Fiala is the hottest player on the Wild roster currently. With 35 points in 50 games this season Fiala is well on his way to reach, if not eclipse, his career high of 48 points. In his last 5 games Fiala has been on fire with 4 goals and 3 assists. On Tuesday night the Wild and Fiala go up against a Golden Knights squad that can put up some points but also can give up some goals. Look for Fiala to grab some points for you on the cheap.
Honorable Mention: Jack Roslovic, WPG; Blake Coleman, NJD; Martin Necas, CAR; Kaapo Kakko, NYR; Jimmy Vesey, BUF;
D | STL | Colton Parayko | Draftkings: $4,400 | Fanduel: $4,700
After a slow start tGGo the season Colton Parayko has been in sync the past few weeks. Through 49 games Parayko has put up 18 points. Even more impressive is that in his last 5 games he has 4 goals and 1 assist. The Blues and Parayko are going up against an inconsistent Ducks squad that has a mediocre 2.96 GAA entering tonight’s game. Take Parayko and possibly his Line 2 mates Schwartz-Schenn-Blais for a low but productive cost.
Honorable Mention: Jared Spurgeon, MIN; Neal Pionk, WPG; Damon Severson, NJD; Nate Schmidt, VGK; Ryan Graves, COL
G | TBL | Andrei Vasilevskiy | Draftkings: $7,400 | Fanduel: $9,200
Andrei Vasilevskiy with exception to Elvis Merzlikins has been one of the hottest goaltenders in the past month or so. You have to go all the way back to December 14th to get Vasilevskiy’s last regulation time loss. Entering tonight’s game with a 2.48 GAA and a .918 save pct. The Lightning play the Penguins who have tons of offensive potential with Malkin and Crosby but have been mired with injuries which has led to disjointed lines. Look for the in sync Lightning and Vasilevskiy to stymie the Penguins tonight.
Honorable Mention: Philip Grubauer, COL; Jake Allen, STL
G | CHI | Robin Lehner | Draftkings: $7,300 | Fanduel: $8,100
Robin Lehner has been the Blackhawks go-to goalie this season. While Corey Crawford has been dependable in spurts it has been Lehner who has been their shutdown goalie. Coming into tonight’s game with a 2.83 GAA and an impressive .923 save percentage. Lehner and the Blackhawks will be facing an Oilers squad that just lost Connor McDavid for 2-3 weeks. Also, the Oilers have been a team with sporadic offensive showings this year. While they still have weapons in Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Oscar Klefbom look for Lehner and the Blackhawks to keep them in check.
Honorable Mention: Igor Shesterkin, NYR; Carter Hutton, BUF
