The Daily Faceoff- November 29th Man Slate- NHL DFS

While most people are recovering from a day of football and gorging themselves. Also, a day off from hockey with exception to the Devils vs. the Canadiens. We come to Black Friday a day of sales online and at stores. Also a day of deals in the NHL DFS slate! With 12 games on the slate there are plenty of choices. Out of those games are two that come to mind as the best opportunity to contribute to your DFS success!

First, the Penguins are playing the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins have been on a roll of late. On a 3 game winning streak and with a white-hot Line 1 of Guentzel-Malkin-Rust the Penguins are clicking on all cylinders. Without Malkin and Crosby playing together for most of the season the Penguins have miraculously put up a robust 3.5 goals per game. On Friday night the Penguins play the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus is much improved from a sluggish start to the season but still owning a 3.04 GAA. The Penguins offense should prove too much for the Blue Jackets.

The second match-up of note for the night is the Philadelphia Flyers vs. the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings have had a brutal season so far. Owners of the worst goal scoring rate at 2.2 goals per game and the worst GAA at 3.56. Both Jonathan Bernier and Jimmy Howard have been abused this year. The next fortunate foe is the Flyers. The Flyers have played well so far this year with a 13-7-5 record so far. In this game look for either Line 1 of Lindblom-Couturier-Voracek to be a borderline Cash/GPP play. Also, Line 2 of Giroux-Frost-Konecny is a good priced play for Cash contests. Let’s get to the recommendations!

Preferred Stacks

Cash Contests

PIT Line 1: Guentzel | Malkin | Rust | Letang

Draftkings: $28,000 (56% of Salary) | Fanduel: $27,500 (50% of Salary)

This line has been on fire since it’s inception. Things should only get better with the addition of Kris Letang. Evgeni Malkin is the straw that stirs the drink. Malkin has 19 points in 14 games since starting the year on the injured list. Malkin has 3 goals and 7 assists in his last 5 games as well. All 3 members are contributing equally though. Jake Guentzel has been the one constant this season between injuries to Malkin, Crosby, and Letang. Guentzel has 25 points in 25 games and has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. Not to be outdone Bryan Rust has 17 points in 14 games with 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games. Rounding out this group is perennial All-Star Kris Letang. Letang coming off the injured list has 14 points in 17 games and scored a goal and an assist in his last game. This group should have no problems putting points on the board against a mediocre Blue Jackets squad that comes into the game with a 3.04 GAA.

Honorable Mention: CAR Line 1 (Svechnikov-Aho-Teravainen-Hamilton); WPG Line 1 (Connor-Scheifele-Laine-Morrissey); PHI Line 2 (Giroux-Frost-Konecny-Sanheim); TOR Line 1  (Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander-Rielly);

GPP Contests

PHI Line 1 : Lindblom | Couturier | Voracek | Sanheim

Draftkings: $19,000 (38% of Salary) | Fanduel: $21,700 (39% of Salary)

The Flyers top two lines have been a hockey version of musical chairs so far this year. With the call-up of Frost and his assignment to the second line between Giroux and Konecny. The top line has been equally formidable to the second line. The center of this line is veteran Sean Couturier. Couturier has had a steady season so far with 18 points in 25 games. In his last 5 games Couturier has a goal and an assist. The most decorated scorer of this group is Czech winger Jakub Voracek. Voracek got off to a slow start this season but has picked it up of late with 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 5 games to bring his season total to 16 points. The lesser known of this trio is Oskar Lindblom. Lindblom has 9 goals and 7 assists on the season but has been cold of late with 0 points in 5 games. Travis Sanheim is the key defenseman of this group. Sanheim has only 2 goals and 5 assists this season but has 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 5 games. A main reason to have full confidence in this group is the are playing the downright awful Red Wings on Friday. The Red Wings have the worst GAA in the league at 3.56 and there are no signs of them getting better. If you don’t take this line you may consider Giroux-Frost-Konecny-Provorov for a little more.

Honorable Mention: TOR Line 2 (Mikheyev-Tavares-Hyman-Muzzin); ANA Line 1 (Rakell-Getzlaf-Terry-Lindholm); COL Line 1 (Burakovsky-MacKinnon-Donskoi-Makar); ARI Line 3 (Dvorak-Stepan-Hinostroza-Oesterle)

Bargain Bin

PIT | C | Jared McCann | Draftkings: $4,800 | Fanduel: $4,600

Entering into his fifth season and second with the Penguins McCann looks to be coming into his own. With injuries to key players for the Penguins this season it has provided McCann with the opportunity to step up to the higher lines and take on some of the scoring responsibilities. McCann has 9 goals and 8 assists in 23 games which is very close to his career high of 28 points. In addition, McCann has been on a roll of late with 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. The Penguins have should plenty of scoring opportunities on Friday since they are playing the Blue Jackets.

Honorable Mention: Christian Dvorak, ARI; Joel Eriksson Ek, MIN; Kirby Dach, CHI; Lars Eller, WAS

LAK | W | Al Iafallo | Draftkings: $3,800 | Fanduel: $4,400

Undrafted out of Minnesota-Duluth Iafallo has made teams regretting not drafting or signing him. Last year Iafallo had a 33 point season in his second season in the NHL with the Kings. He is continuing to show his merit, on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown, with 5 goals and 9 assists in 25 games. He also has 1 goal and 3 assists in his last 2 games. The Kings play a Sharks team that is not too much better off than them this season. The Sharks have had problems in the net which equals opportunities for Iafallo and his linemates which in total make a decent GPP line play.

Honorable Mention: Dominik Kahun, PIT; Kevin Labanc, SJS; Oskar Lindblom, PHI; Ilya Mikheyev, TOR; Vinnie Hinostroza, ARI

TOR | D | Tyson Barrie | Draftkings: $5,300 | Fanduel: $4,700

A bit on the higher end for a bargain pick but Barrie is a bargain at this price. After a strong start to the season Barrie went on a scoring drought. He has picked it up of late with 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 games to bring his season totals up to 12 points in 26 games. Take advantage of Barrie at this lower price as he starts to heat up to his normal production levels.

Honorable Mention: Ryan Ellis, NAS; Cam Fowler, ANA; Alex Goligoski, ARI; Jake Muzzin, TOR; Sean Walker, LAK

Cash  Contests

DAL | G | Ben Bishop

Draftkings: $8,400 | Fanduel: $8,900

The giant netminder out of the U of Maine has carved out a strong career and he keeps producing year after year. This year Ben Bishop has a 9-5-1 record with a 2.24 GAA and a .926 save percentage. All this for a team that forgot how to score at the beginning of the season. The Stars have started to come together offensively in the past few weeks so the wins should start coming with even more ease. It should be a tight defensive game so even if Bishop doesn’t grab the win he should put up strong peripheral stats.

Honorable Mention: Anders Nilsson, OTT; Connor Hellebuyck, WPG; Tristan Jarry, PIT

GPP Contests

PHI | G | Carter Hart

Draftkings: $8,200 | Fanduel: $7,400

In his second full season in the NHL Hart has continued to impress for a goalie at such a young age. He has had his growing pains but still owns an impressive 7-5-3 record with a 2.54 GAA and .900 save percentage. He should only continue to get better as the season goes on. Tonight the Flyers play the Red Wings. This is a perfect draw for a goaltender since the Red Wings have the lowest goals per game rate and the highest goals against. So, it should be an easy win for Hart.

Honorable Mention: Kaapo Kahkonen, MIN; Jake Allen, STL
