The Layup – Core Picks 10.25.18 – NBA DFS

Hello Playmakers! We have a 4 game NBA DFS Slate tonight so we will bring you our favorite plays at each position for both DraftKings and FanDuel. Unless we specify, the plays work on both sites.

PG: Damian Lillard | POR | DraftKings: $8,700 | FanDuel: $9,800

Damian Lillard is in a great spot tonight against Orlando. The game should play fast and D.J. Augustine’s defense doesn’t really strike fear in anyone’s heart. Dame has put up 28, 29 and 29 real points in 3 games this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if he broke that 30 point plateau tonight. Pay up for Russ against Boston if you want but Lillard has a better matchup and I think he gives you just as much upside at a discounted price.

SG | Gary Harris | DEN | DraftKings: $6,500 | FanDuel: $7,100
Harris is sort of a do it all Guard for the Nuggets. He’ll score maybe 15-20 points, he’ll add a handful of rebounds and assists and if you’re lucky, a steal or two and get you around 30-35 FPTS. Denver is playing slow this year but this is a pace up spot against the Lakers and this game has a 239 total. Oh yeah, and the Lakers suck at playing defense with their best defender relegated to the bench. The game is in LA so I expect it to stay close and Harris to play at least 30 minutes. On a short slate, we need some reliable points and Gary Harris will get us that. He’s a great cash game play and still has enough upside against the Lakers to make him a viable tournament option.
SF: Paul George | OKC | DraftKings: $8,200 | FanDuel: $9,000
Paul George is another guy who probably won’t give you much bang for your buck in tournaments tonight but from a cash game perspective, he’ll give you the raw points you need at a reasonable price. Russell Westbrook is back, which does cut down on George’s usage and rebound numbers some but he’s still an appealing play in that he rarely busts and you can count on getting 40-45 FPTS a night out of him. You certainly could pay up for LeBron and no one would fault you but if you can’t find the funds, PG13 is a fine play in a game against Boston that should stay close.
PF: Blake Griffin | DET | DraftKings: $9,600 | FanDuel | $9,200
I’ve been trying to talk myself out of this one, as I don’t like the price increase but I just can’t think of a viable reason to fade Blake Griffin on a 4 game slate. It’s pretty clear that Griffin will be the focal point of the Pistons offense this year. He’s playing out of his mind right now and is coming off of a monster game against the Sixers in which he scored a career high 50 real points and 77.8 FPTS. While I don’t expect that kind of production again tonight, 45-50 FPTS is certainly attainable against hapless Cleveland and that will certainly do.
C: JaVale McGee | $5,300 DraftKings | $6,200 FanDuel

JaVale McGee has been as close as you can get to an automatic plug-and-play so far this season. He’s been getting 30-40 FPTS a night, has been severely under-priced and severely under-owned. The price is slowly starting to creep up now but ownership is still coming in at around 15% in GPPs. McGee is coming off of a 45 FPT performance in last night’s blowout win against the Suns in which he put up a 20/6/2 line. He also added 4 blocks and a steal, which is huge, especially on FanDuel where they’re worth 3 points a piece. This is the back end of a back-to-back and the matchup with Jokic is not a great one but until the industry catches up, it’s almost mandatory to play McGee at these prices, especially on DK where he’s only $5.3k.

Also consider: D.J. Augustine (ORL), E. Fournier (ORL), L. Stephenson (LAL), A. Drummond (DET)

It wasn't long before he left behind the virtual felt for his new mistress, DFS. To date, Heath has taken down GPPs across all three major sports: NFL, MLB and NBA. When he is not spending time with his wife, daughter and beloved Labrador Retriever, he can be found screaming at his tv, phrases such as "Catch the damn ball!" and "Open your eyes, ref!", while simultaneously pouring over mountains of statistics and player projections. In addition to being a lifelong Knicks enthusiast, Heath bleeds Pittsburgh black & gold as well as Yankees pinstripe blue, much to the dismay of the Daily Play Action's Bostonian founders.
